Notes from Mrs. Gunther's Lunch Bunch
Hello WCNS Families,
February is looking to be a very important month in Lunch Bunch. We are going to set a challenge for all of our Lunch Bunchers and their families.
We would like to see just how little trash we can create during the month of February in our Lunch Bunch room.
We are making this month REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE MONTH!
All of our families are so wonderful about packing such healthy lunches for their children. And now we would like the children to get into the habit of taking care of their planet- as well as their bodies.
Here's what we mean...
REDUCE- Means to cut down on the amount of garbage that needs to be put out in the trash. Pack sandwiches in reusable containers instead of tin foil or plastic wrap. Use reusable cloth sacks for snacks instead of plastic bags. Put drinks in reusable bottles instead of using plastic water bottles or juice boxes.
REUSE- Means to reuse something over and over again instead of throwing it away after one use. For example, when you have to use a plastic snack bag, we will send it back home to you and you should use it again for the next day's goldfish or pretzels.
RECYCLE- Means that when you absolutely have to send in a plastic water bottle or can, we will make sure it gets recycled and not just thrown in the trash.
If we all follow these three basic rules- we will surely help our planet and teach the students how to do it too.
As always, we will be reading books during Lunch Bunch that help reinforce these concepts to the children.
Thank you all so much for your help with this challenge.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
We are looking forward to an exciting month!
Sincerely,
Stacy Gunther
